GUI Artist

Jagex Ltd, developer and publisher of the massively multiplayer online adventure game RuneScape and newly released mini-games portal FunOrb, is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic GUI Artist to join their graphics team.
The role will involve supporting this highly creative team in the creation of interfaces for several of our games.

Key duties include
- Design, creation and development of excellent and user-friendly interfaces for our products;
- Following direction, briefs and concept design / development procedures;
- Communicating with our dedicated development and graphics teams ensuring that everyone’s
requirements are considered during the creation process;
- Contributing ideas of a graphical nature but also regarding working practices and procedures;
- Implementing the designed interfaces into our games using Photoshop and in-house software.

Essential requirements
- Proficiency producing Interfaces and Interface theory;
- Good experience using Photoshop and drawing/design skills;
- Ability to demonstrate creative concepts and take art direction;
- Experience of quality control including a keen eye for detail in all areas of development;
- Positive communicator with the ability to work with staff from all areas of the company;
- Energetic, enthusiastic, self motivated with a strong work ethic and a high level of initiative;
- Art and Design or equivalent degree;
- An interest in computer games or RPGs.
- Ability to identify trends in the entertainment industry in order to anticipate strategies relevant to RuneScape;
- Knowledge of player behaviours, motivations and profiles;
- Knowledge of game development methods and practices, with an understanding of game design oriented to multiplayer environments;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate enthusiastically, clearly and concisely to groups and individuals;
- The ability to adapt, re-prioritise and immediately solve problems according to the needs of a fast-moving working environment;
- A proven passion for computer gaming and design;

Also useful
- Experience of working on completed and shipped game products;
- Concept art skills and/or product design experience;
- Interest and experience of MMORPGs.

Salary
18k to 26k negotiable depending on experience, plus excellent benefits package including annual bonus, private health care, gym membership and other benefits
