Principle Engine Programmer

Position Overview
To cycle between the following as appropriate;
· Troubleshooting on existing SEGA Worldwide titles.
· Implementation of working prototypes to the technical, design and artistic criteria established in collaboration with other team leads. Contribution to planning, design and research for new ideas and quality improvements of existing titles.

Key Responsibilities
· Work as part of the team to iterate new ideas in prototyping.
· Actively investigate and research new technology (including formal evaluations of new middleware).
· Implement code to the highest standards to achieve agreed project goals.
· Form a key stake-holding in the planning and scheduling of both prototyping and troubleshooting work.
· Lead troubleshooting engineering efforts for SEGA Worldwide developers as dictated by senior management.
· Work to deadlines and plans agreed in collaboration with the design & art leads on each project.
· Visit 1st & 3rd party developers worldwide and maintain good relationships with engineers within the teams.
· Mentor other engineers in the group.
· Contribute to developer due diligence assessments as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
· Strong C/C++ programming experience.
· Engine programming on one or more next-gen (shader based) consoles, including demonstrable experience of one or more of;
· Rendering (including shader and post-processing work)
o Animation
o Networking
o Multi-threading
o Optimisation across both CPU and GPU
· Good academic background (2:1 degree or better).
· Industry experience in a developer working on at least one published game.
· 5+ years of programming experience in relevant fields.
· Technical understanding of a selection of video game platform hardware up to and including current generation.
· Good communications skills in working with designers, artists and project managers.
· Ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines.
· Resourceful, practical and self-critical thinker.
· Self-motivated and organised.

Desirable
· Experience with troubleshooting & support on foreign code-bases.
· Staff mentoring & reviewing.
· Experience of leading middleware platforms.
· Presentation skills.
